Hugh ran Stearns Design-Build as a one-person operation when he founded it in 1993. He has been the first employee of virtually every position in the company. He grew up in College Station and Bryan and graduated from Texas A&M.

His background in philosophy and psychology has helped develop the design theory that drives the company’s unique approach to residential design and green building. He took his first class in green building in 1976 and has remained a student of building science ever since. His passion for remodeling and custom home design are a large part of what has driven our growth and award-winning recognition for customer service. When you meet with Hugh, he will answer any questions you have, explain how our process works, and discuss what you would like to do with your remodeling project.

Emily joined Stearns Design Build in 2019 as the Marketing Director, where she brought her creativity, storytelling skills, and client-focused mindset to lead a wide range of marketing initiatives. As her role evolved, so did her impact—Emily now serves as the Director of the Houston Division, where she is leading the company’s expansion into the Houston market. With a deep understanding of Stearns’ values and a passion for creating meaningful client experiences, she is building a strong foundation for growth and long-term relationships in the new region.

She holds a degree in Communications & Media Production from the University of Houston and previously worked in the arts and film industries before transitioning into marketing. Outside of work, Emily enjoys spending time with her husband, Payton, attending live music events, exploring museums, traveling, and getting out into nature.

Rigo joined the Stearns Team in 2023 as the Production Superintendent. He studied at the University of Monterrey in San Pedro Garza Garcia, Mexico. He ventured into the remodeling business fueled by his passion for unleashing creativity and embracing unique perspectives, qualities essential for the art of remodeling. He likes channeling his creative energy to skillfully mend and rejuvenate various living spaces within clients homes.

In his free time, enjoys using his creativity to create art through painting, visiting museums, playing golf, and traveling.

Behrad (Brad) is an architectural designer with a strong interest and background in residential projects. He earned his Master’s in Architecture and Design Research from Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, PA. He joined the Stearns team in 2024, bringing a blend of retail and residential experience. His passion for sustainability in residential remodeling was sparked during his master’s program. Known as a “Problem Solver,” Brad thrives on challenges and values interactive communication for smooth project progress.

He has lived and worked in Arizona, Pennsylvania, and Texas. In his spare time, Brad enjoys watching historical documentaries, traveling, trying new foods and restaurants, hiking, and engaging in outdoor activities.

Kori joined the Stearns Team in 2024 as the Office Manager. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Development with a minor in Business from Texas A&M University. With her background in operations, Kori brings her knowledge and willingness to learn to make sure the office runs smoothly.

In her free time, she likes volunteering at local events, cooking, listening to music, attending Aggie sporting events, but she enjoys the most spending time with family and friends.
